I thought I would share a bit more about my process... I like to take my final sketch into Photoshop and work out the color, playing with lots of options until I feel like I have the right balance. For this series I'm pretty concerned about making the right choices because I will be stuck with them considering all but 2 frames are entirely underwater. I'm tempted to really wash everything other than the boy and any key characters in blue but I think it might take alot of the fun out of all the underwater plants and animals. So the study above shows a fairly muted scene with pops of green and orange. I'm on the fence about his brown shorts. I don't want him to look too homely or dirty but a mid-tone neutral seems like a good choice. Once I begin laying color down, I expect to change things but at least this gives me an initial map.
